The American Red Cross reminds us: “Disaster can strike at any time! Whether a house fire or a 9.0 earthquake, a single disaster can change your physical, emotional and financial health in a matter of seconds.” Emergency preparedness starts with YOU! In a disaster, your most immediate source of help are the neighbors living around you; living in Charbonneau, you are not alone!
Our Charbonneau Green HOA, along with the broader Charbonneau Community has a plan in place to help residents care for ourselves in the event of a major disaster that would overwhelm first responders. Every household has been provided with a RED EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS folder where you will find basic information about the plan and what first steps to take both in your own home and in your neighborhood. If you do not have a folder, contact the Preparedness Captain for your home, as listed in the link below.
The minimum we are asking of homeowners is that they be prepared to take the “9 steps immediately following a disaster” as noted in these materials. Please pay particular attention to the DROP, COVER & HOLD instructions. There is also valuable information on 72-hour emergency kits, how to store water, and emergency sanitation. Additional information may be found on the Charbonneau Country Club website: https://charbonneaucountryclub.com/ just click on the Emergency Prep and Safety tab.
We hope you will be part of this important safety plan to assure the continued resiliency of our community!
DON’T BE SCARED, BE PREPARED!!
CHARBONNEAU GREEN HOA
DISASTER PODS
The goal OF OUR Emergency Preparedness teams is to enable Charbonneau Green homeowners and/or residents to manage on our own until outside help arrives. The committee has divided our 48-home association into four “Pods” of twelve houses, and a minimum of two people on each team have agreed to be captains. These Pods are designated as A, B, C and D.
- When a major disaster occurs, these Captains are trained to:
Check on the residents of their assigned Pod by looking for HELP/OK signs - Reporting to our designated meeting place (Pool House) to report in
- Organize teams to check on anyone who may need assistance.
- Report via 2-way radio to HQ Command Center to report on our status
- If medical help is needed that cannot be provided by first-aid within in the HOA, they will contact HQ Command Center to request assistance from an established cadre of medically trained resident in the community.
See below to determine which Pod your home is in and who the Captains are for your Pod. If you do not have a Red Emergency Preparedness folder, or if you have questions about these plans, your Pod Captains will be happy to help!
